Already on the way across the bridge, the pace changes. The city's sounds are muffled and the view of the water, the boats and the Old Town opens up between the gilded crowns on the bridge railings.

From the quays of Skeppsholmen you get one of Stockholm's most classic views. From here you can see the Old Town's silhouette with church towers, castles and water in a way that feels almost unreal in the evening light.

3. Moderna Museet and the art by the water

Skeppsholmen has long been a place for both the navy and culture. Today, historical buildings coexist with modern art and open promenades along the water.

4. Kastellholmen and the little red lighthouse

The short walk across the bridge to Kastellholmen feels almost like leaving the city for a while. Here, red wooden buildings, tranquility and views of Djurgården and the entrance to the archipelago await.

Along Skeppsholmen's quays are ships that remind us of Stockholm's long relationship with the sea. Here, naval history, sailing ships and today's city life meet side by side.

6. The evening walk around the isles

When the museums have closed and the ferries begin to calm down, the area becomes almost meditative. The water reflects the city's lights and the walk around the isles is one of our absolute favorites in Stockholm.

Few places show Stockholm's geography as clearly as Skeppsholmen and Kastellholmen. Here you really understand why the city was built right here — between Lake Mälaren, Saltsjön and the archipelago.
