Slussen, Old Djurgårdsstaden & the Vasa Museum

From Slussen to Djurgården – a walk through the city's development and maritime history.

From Slussen to Djurgården – a walk through the city's development and maritime history.
Entrance and guided tour of the Vasa Museum are included.

We start at Slussen, where Lake Mälaren meets the Baltic Sea.
The place has long been central to Stockholm's infrastructure and tells about the city's recurring reconstructions and technical solutions through time.

From here we take ourselves over the water to Djurgården.
In Djurgårdsstaden we move through narrow streets lined with older wooden houses, in an area that has long been characterized by shipyard and maritime environments.

The walk continues to the Vasa Museum, where we go in together.
Here you get a guided tour of the warship Vasa – which sank on its maiden voyage in 1628 and was salvaged more than 300 years later.

The museum provides an insight into the ambitions of the Swedish great power era, shipbuilding and the conditions that led to the sinking.
