Stockholm through our eyes: Slussen

Join us on a journey through Slussen's history and present, from classic views to new landmarks. Discover Stockholm through our eyes!

1. The city's meeting between two waters

Slussen
Few places explain Stockholm as clearly as Slussen. Here, Lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea meet — fresh water and sea — right between Gamla Stan and Södermalm. A place where the city is literally shaped by water.

2. The view from Katarina Elevator

Katarinahissen
The view from here is one of Stockholm's most classic. Gamla Stan, Skeppsholmen, Djurgården and the boats on Strömmen spread out beneath you while the city continues to move far below.

3. Mosebacke and the evening light

Mosebacke torg
Just minutes from traffic and construction projects, the atmosphere changes. Mosebacke offers quieter neighborhoods, older houses and some of the city's most beautiful evening views.

4. The Golden Bridge and the new Slussen

Guldbron
Slussen has always changed — and continues to do so. The new bridge has already become a modern symbol of the place and shows how Stockholm is constantly building on its history.

5. Ryssgården and the city's international history

Ryssgården
For several hundred years, people, goods and languages met around Slussen. Ryssgården recalls Stockholm's long history as a trading city and gateway to the Baltic Sea.

6. Stadsgården and the meeting with the archipelago

Stadsgården
Along the quays at Stadsgården, the archipelago feels close. Ferries and cruise ships dock here while the view over Djurgården and Skeppsholmen opens towards the horizon.

7. Slussen late at night

Södermalm
When the pace slows down and the lights are reflected in the water, Slussen gets a completely different feeling. Here you notice both the movement of the big city and the proximity to the water that made Stockholm just Stockholm.
